SHADOW TENDER (2016 - PRESENT)

I founded Shadow Tender in 2016 alongside Portland-based martial artist Maria Thomas and NYC-based choreographer Magda Kaczmarska and serve as the creative director and lead designer for all aspects of the project.

Shadow Tender is an interdisciplinary creative project and teaching methodology designed to examine the deep psychological mechanisms at the root of extremist nationalist policy through wearable sculpture, technology, and movement. Loosely based on the concept of the Jungian Shadow, Shadow Tender explores ways in which we construct, project, and transmute the monstrous within ourselves and society. Our first evening-length performance - Liber I - premiered at World Stage Design 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan. Our second evening-length performance - Liber II - premiered at the 2019 Butoh College Festival in Portland, Oregon.

In addition to our creative endeavors, we also teach workshops and facilitate dialogues on the concept of demonization through mask-making, movement, and embodiment. For more information and up-to-date news regarding this work, please visit the Shadow Tender official website.

SHADOW TENDER: LIBER II:

A love letter to the terrifying secrets of the queer female body - the silent language of memory, nightmares, transmutation, and the endless desire to bloom.

Liber II premiered in spring of 2019 in Portland, Oregon as part of the Butoh College Festival.
